Volume 5 Article informations The XIX century, mutations in the urban sound form : the case of the medina of Constantine NADIA SAHRAOUI Abstract The nineteenth century, an era of great urban, economic, and sociocultural change. Haussmanian urban planning is the source of transformations in the Urban Sound Form. This reality has been the subject of certain research that, over the past thirty years, has focused on the interaction between physical reality and the sensorial experience. The qualitative approach of this research examines sensorial phenomena in situ and recognizes that they are measured and expressed with difficulty. The analytical tool employed by this research is the Sound Effect. Taking one example from the Medina of Constantine, this paper highlights the emergence of new sound effects that result from changes in the urban form.
